Overview

Capacitance elements:

• allow the introduction of concentrated heat capacitance at a point;
• are associated with the temperature degree of freedom at a node; and
• have a capacitance that can be specified as a function of temperature and/or field variables.

Defining the capacitance value

The heat capacitance is associated with the temperature degree of freedom at the node of the element. You specify the capacitance magnitude, (density × specific heat × volume). Specify capacitance, not specific heat. You must associate this capacitance with a region of your model.

Input File Usage: *HEATCAP, ELSET=name pcV where the ELSET parameter refers to a set of HEATCAP elements.
